Jon Garrod has always had a passion for cars since an early age, so decided to turn his hobby into a business. He started his company Spray n Go on 1st March 2007 after working in a local body shop since he left school (2001). He decided to set up a mobile Smart Repair service with little more than a van (and the use of his parents garage at home) and a lot of determination. Visiting the homes and workplaces of customers, he found an opening in the car body repair market and built up a client-base over the first twelve months. Working long hours, Jon gained a reputation for delivering a high-quality and reliable service at low, competitive prices. As the business grew, Jon took on more and more jobs, he decided to replace his van with a more permanent site and in 2008 moved into newly built premises on Swanstons Road.
In 2012, he started selling car parts online, naming it Wing Mirrors World and the online shop rapidly grew. Shortly after this, he decided to take on his first employee, but wasn't long before he realised he needed more hands, and bigger premises! In 2015, he expanded to the unit next door, and they also became a team of four with various job roles. Jon is the main car sprayer on site with seventeen years of experience in body repairs. Two online e-commerce administrators manage the four websites, and with over 300,000 listings on eBay and Amazon, all packed by our in-house pick packer. A parking sensor brand has also been designed and developed, known as Park Mate, which they supply to the motor trade in the area and across the UK.
After 11 years, Jon decided to take the jump and move into a much larger premises to push his business further and promote his brands. In this prime spot with main road frontage, Jon has set up a car, motorcycle and caravan parts and accessories shop called Auto Care, whereby he offers additional services to customers, such as fitting parts. There is also a much larger car workshop, Spray n Go can now offer more services to our customers.
Managing Director Jon Garrod: "My family have always been into business, and growing up in The Elephant & Castle pub and the Furzedown Hotel, it was in my blood from a young age. It's a great feeling starting a company from nothing and watching it grow, with the hard work and challenges it brings along the way. We have worked on some beautiful cars, from Bentley's and Aston Martins to Vauxhall Astra's and Fiat Panda's. I plan to expand both sides of the business, offering more parts and services. Here's to the next 10 years!"
